"Only in the dark can you see the stars. The stars are hope, look for them."
Many people think that peace is something we have to look for outside of ourselves or work very hard to create within ourselves. Actually, peace is a natural state of being that is already within us; it is just hidden by all of the stress and tension we take in and focus on. You cover up your peace every time you think of, or dwell on, a stressful thought. The thought does not destroy your peace, but it can cause you to forget it if you continue to dwell on the anxiety.
You are more than your stressful thoughts. A real part of you exists beyond your worrying, beyond your doubts, seperated from your troubles and frustrations of your current situation. Your body may feel pain, but the pain is not you. Your mind may be troubled, but you are not those troubles. Don't allow your current troubles to cloud your thinking.
By continually trying to move away from what you don't want, you are forced to think about it so much that you end up carrying tis weight along with you. Has anyone ever told you, "Don't think about a pink elephant", but then all you can think about at that moment is a pink elephant. It's the same concept. Instead, chose to focus your energy on moving toward something you want and leave the negative weight behind you as you move forward. Instead of thinking about getting rid of the negative, focus on making something positive.
